Private health insurance (and Medicare) cover the majority, but not all, of the cost of your procedure. The Australian Medical Association (AMA) provides a schedule of recommended surgeon fees for procedures. Private health fund/Medicare reimbursement is significantly less than the fees set out by the AMA, and has not kept up with inflation. The difference between health fund reimbursement, and a surgeons fee, is the the patient ‘gap’ or ‘out of pocket fee’.

Mr. Elsewaisy endeavours to keep your out of pocket fee as low as possible, whilst taking the time to provide you with the highest standard of surgical care to ensure an excellent outcome from your surgery. Out of pocket fees are based on the expected complexity and duration of your procedure, and your insurance coverage. Our fees are always within those set out by the AMA.

You will receive written confirmation of your out of pocket surgical fee prior to your procedure.

Please note that there will be a separate fee charged by the anaesthetist, surgical assistant and your private insurance excess. If you need to see a medical physician for assessment/optimisation prior to surgery, they will also charge a seperate fee.

There may also be out of pocket fees related to accommodation, radiology, pharmacy, pathology and physiotherapy, however these fees are usually covered by your insurance.

Mr. Elsewaisy performs No-Gap hip and knee replacement and ACL reconstruction surgery through Vermont Private Hospital (for eligible Medibank patients)

Mr. Elsewaisy is happy to see Workcover and TAC patients. If you have a claim number and an approval letter for the consult, the appointment will be billed directly to Workcover/TAC. Otherwise, full payment is required on the day, and you can then submit the invoice for reimbursement from Workcover/TAC.

If surgery is required, and approved the Workcover/TAC, the surgery will be charged to them, and there will be no out of pocket fee.
